| What is Internet over Cable and how does it work? |
It's an always-on Internet service, where high speed Internet is delivered over special cables laid for this purpose, This technology uses Fiber and Coaxial cables to deliver Internet, that have a higher capacity and are more weather resistant in comparison to Telephone cables that are designed to carry voice only. Cable Internet uses a Cable Modem to communicate between your computer and the Internet. It works in very similar manner as the modem used for dial up connection, but converting your data requirements into a high speed form compatible with the for the cable infrastructure. A cable modem has a capacity to transmit data at upto 4 Mbps, which is many times higher than a typical 56 kbps dialup modem. |

Having many subscribers on-line at the same time, will not affect your speed. But if the site you are accessing is overloaded, then there could be a reduction in speed. |

No, you don't. With YOU Telecom's Internet services you do not require a telephone line to connect to the net. Hence no hefty telephone bills. |
| Do I need a modem? |
Ordinary dial-up modems are not right for Cable Internet. You need a special cable modem that would be connected to your computer. At YOU Telecom, we will supply the cable modem to you at a cost. |
| Are there any specific requirements for my PC to be Broadband enabled? |
For the Experience, we recommend the following configuration for your computer:
Your computer should be operating on Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT / XP.
Your computer should have Ethernet card.
You need an available hard disk space of 20MB.
The RAM should be at least 32 MB. |
