What is YOU Broadband Telephony?
YOU Broadband Telephony is a new way to place international calls at local rates. We enable our YOU Broadband customers to place voice calls over the Internet to any PSTN (landline number) outside India.

What do I need to use YOU Broadband Telephony?
To use our Net Telephony services you have to be a YOU Broadband customer. Along with, you will also require a Net Telephony coupon, which can be purchased from any authorized YOU Telecom dealer.

Why are YOU Broadband Net Telephony rates as low as Rs 1.25 per minute?
In conventional telephony, your voice is transmitted through expensive dedicated equipment of telephone companies where as in YOU Broadband Telephony, your voice is converted into data packets and sent over the Internet, this eliminates the need for expensive and cumbersome equipment and hence provides low cost telephony to you.

What is a dialer?
A dialer is a program, which allows you to place calls using YOU Broadband Telephony, directly from your PC. If you have a dialer installed, you don't need any other VoIP device (i.e. no extra hardware required).

I already have a Net Telephony (VoIP) phone with me. Can I use it with your Net Telephony service?
Our Net Telephony infrastructure is based on the H.323 protocol. Hence if the device you have purchased is H.323 compliant there is a good possibility that it will work with YOU Broadband Telephony.

Can I call Countries other than USA / Canada using YOU Broadband Telephony?
Yes, you can call other countries too. But the call rates to other countries may vary (please refer to the YOU Broadband Telephony rate card).

Can I use a normal Telephone to place a call using YOU Broadband Telephony?
If you have purchased a VoIP device from YOU Broadband, then you can plug in a normal phone into it and use the phone to place international calls.

Is the voice quality as good as my ISD landline?
YOU Broadband has top quality dedicated infrastructure, which ensures that the voice quality of your call is as almost good as than that offered by conventional telephony.

Is there a possibility of a cross connection or some one else hearing my conversation?
Unlike conventional analog telephony, in YOU Broadband Telephony your voice is digitized into data packets. Since your voice travels digitally there is no possibility of a cross connection or others snooping on your call.

What will happen if I exhaust my talk time in the middle of a conversation?
If you exhaust your talk time in the middle of a conversation your call will be dropped.

Where will I get YOU Broadband Telephony recharge coupons?
YOU Broadband Telephony Recharge coupons are available at all authorized YOU Broadband Dealers.

Will my minutes expire if I don't use them?
Your coupon is valid for 90 days. If you don't use up your minutes by that period, your minutes will expire.

What is the minimum denomination of your YOU Broadband Telephony coupon?
YOU Broadband Telephony coupons are available in denominations of Rs. 100 and Rs. 200.

How can I check my YOU Broadband Telephony talk time balance?
Each time you place a call using YOU Broadband Telephony, your balance minutes will be before call connection. You can also view your account details by logging at out website using the username/password provided to you.

Will YOU Broadband Telephony calls consume my MB's?
YOU Broadband Telephony converts your voice into data packets using a program called a CODEC (coder - decoder). This program compresses your voice into a 16 kbps data stream, which means your voice call will consume approximately 7mb's per HOUR.

Can I carry forward my unused talk time?
No. You cannot carry forward your minutes (talk time).

How much do I save with YOU Broadband Telephony?
A call to the US or Canada or UK will cost you just rupees 1.25 per minute which is a fraction of the amount charged by conventional ISD.

Can I browse the net while I'm on an YOU Broadband Telephony call?
Yes you can browse the net while you are on a voice call but you may notice drop in browsing speeds, as the voice call will use a part of our bandwidth.

Why does an YOU Broadband Telephony call to a cell phone cost more than that to a landline?
Cell phone tariffs are based on various premises like "Calling party pays", hence the caller has to bear the talk time for the cell phone user too. Hence the cost is more.

Is Net Telephony more reliable than PSTN (ordinary land line ISD)?
Net Telephony is much more reliable than an ordinary landline because of the structure of the Internet. If a particular link is down, your voice is sent through another available link unlike conventional telephony.

Why do you say that YOU Broadband telephony provides good voice quality?
YOU Telecom routes your voice through its top quality high speed fiber optic network which as minimum data loss and hence preserves your voice quality even at long distance calls.

Is your Net Telephony service cheaper than the others?
YOU Broadband Telephony is competitively priced and is considerably cheaper than most other vendors.

Can I use a cordless phone with a Net Telephony device?
Yes you can use a cordless phone with an YOU Broadband Telephony device.

Can I use the VOIP connection to send a FAX?
YOU Telecom VOIP system is capable of allowing faxes if you can connect a FAX machine behind the VOIP gateway device. (We advise the customer to test the facility as the compatibility depends on the FAX machines).
